Depression and Bipolar

Depression can feel like being in a cold, dark well with no way out. Mania or hypomania is thought of as the opposite of depression: feeling euphoric, having lots of energy, not needing sleep.  Some people cycle back and forth between these two states.  It can be very disruptive to life.

Depression can bring insomnia or needing to sleep too much, fatigue, decreased focus, hopelessness, guilt, and suicidal thoughts.

How can depression be treated?

  • Exercise and diet-- the typical American diet and lifestyle causes a lot of chronic inflammation.  This inflammation gets into our brains and causes damage to the point that the cells and neurons can't work properly and we feel depressed or get out of balance.

  • Medications-- helping you manage the symptoms so that you can make the changes necessary for you to live a happy, healthy life.

  • Therapy-- changing our thought process that leads to depression.
