Anxiety and Anxious Disorders

Anxiety is that worried uneasy feeling that tells us that we need to do something to stay safe. Sometimes this anxiety message goes off even when we are safe.

Some anxious disorders are generalized anxiety, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and agoraphobia (fear of going outside).

When we live with chronic, dysfunctional anxiety we can feel sad, hopeless, chronic fatigue, restless, irritable, on edge. It's likely to cause us worse concentration, insomnia, and even chronic pain.

How can anxiety be treated?

  • Therapy-- working to find the roots of what causes this overgrowth of anxiety and how we can trim it back.

  • Mind Body practices-- to bring the mind down to a baseline of calm and practice being in the present moment.

  • Medications-- when you're feeling like all that you do just doesn't make a difference, see if medications can make it easier to manage your healing journey.
